C-I Teaching Fellows

C-I Faculty Teaching Fellows are experienced faculty leaders who help communication-intensive teaching grow across LSU—one colleague, one course, one college at a time. Launched in 2023 as part of LSU's Geaux Communicate Initiative, the Fellows program recognizes faculty who are already doing this work well and provides the platform, support, and community to extend that impact further.

Fellows serve as discipline-based advocates for C-I teaching. They help peers understand what communication-intensive teaching looks like in practice, connect colleagues with available support and resources, and contribute to the continued growth of C-I courses across campus. Because Fellows come from departments across the university, they bring credibility and context that make those conversations more meaningful—a colleague speaking to a colleague.

What Fellows Do

Fellows take on a range of projects during their appointment year, contributing resources and materials that benefit the wider C-I teaching community. Recent Fellow projects have included self-reflection assignments for C-I courses, peer-review tools, resources for visual and spoken communication, AI-related teaching guidance, blog-based teaching reflections, and materials to help departments pursue C-I certification.

What Fellows Receive

Fellows receive a $1,200 academic-year stipend, professional recognition within LSU's C-I community, and public acknowledgment on the CxC website. They also join a cross-campus peer network of experienced C-I educators and have access to ongoing professional development opportunities through CxC.

Who Becomes a Fellow

Fellows are selected through an internal nomination and invitation process. Strong candidates are typically experienced C-I faculty with the ability to engage colleagues, strong standing within their unit, and a genuine interest in talking about teaching and learning.
