John Vickers is the inaugural Director of the Digital Twin Core Facility at Louisiana State University. With more than 40 years of experience at NASA, he previously served as principal technologist for advanced manufacturing and led the agency’s digital twin research strategy.
A recognized pioneer in the field, Vickers helped popularize the concept of “digital twins”—virtual models used to simulate and optimize real-world systems—and has been instrumental in advancing their application across industries.
At LSU, he leads interdisciplinary efforts to position the university as a national leader in digital twin research, innovation, and workforce development, with a focus on solving complex challenges and driving economic growth.
