Adult Programs

Annual Symposium

Each year the Friends of Hilltop offers a symposium focusing on gardening and nature issues. Well known local and national speakers present the latest information to  participants. As part of membership benefits, Hilltop Members at the Cypress ($500) level or above receive two free registrations for this program.

Art & Wellness

The LSU Hilltop Arboretum Art & Wellness Series invites the community to experience the landscape as both classroom and creative space. Through sensory-based and participatory programs, visitors engage the arboretum by slowing down, observing seasonal change, and interacting directly with the natural environment. By connecting horticulture, landscape design, and human experience, the series expands Hilltop’s role as a living laboratory while offering accessible opportunities for reflection, creativity, and personal wellbeing.

Discover Nature Series

Through a partnership with the Louisiana Master Naturalist of Greater Baton Rouge (LMNGBR) we are proud to offer exciting “Discover Nature” programs featuring local and national experts that are in touch with nature and are eager to share their experiences. All programs will be in the Imo Brown Complex in the Beverly Brown Coates Auditorium. For members of Hilltop and LMNGBR the fee is $10 per program, $15 for non-members. For Hilltop Members at the Magnolia ($250) level or above, the programs are free.

Monarch Teacher Network Workshops

Through a partnership with Monarch Teacher Network, Hilltop Arboretum is pleased to offer special workshops for educators in our region. Hilltop’s natural setting provides an ideal environment for experiential, place-based learning, where science, storytelling, art, observation, and outdoor exploration come together in ways that can inspire learners of all ages.

Monarch Teacher Network is a nonprofit organization that provides hands-on professional development for teachers and informal educators using monarch butterflies, migration, and place-based learning as pathways for interdisciplinary teaching. Its workshops and educational resources help educators create meaningful learning experiences that connect students with nature, science, language, culture, and the arts.

Louisiana Certified Habitat Program

The Louisiana Certified Habitat program recognizes the efforts of Louisiana residents, schools and organizations to conserve our natural heritage.  The goal of this program is to encourage property owners and managers to increase and protect the ecological value of their land to benefit wildlife and natural systems.

American Red Cross Wilderness and Remote First Aid (WRFA)

This course provides individuals a foundation of first aid principles and skills to be able to respond to emergencies and give care in areas that do not have immediate emergency medical services (EMS) response.
