Tiger Teacher Corps
What is Tiger Teacher Corps?
The Tiger Teacher Corps (TTC) is LSU’s signature initiative for students who are committed to making a difference through teaching. It reflects the flagship’s bold commitment to the teaching profession and preparing future educators to lead, serve, and succeed in classrooms across Louisiana and beyond.
As a declared major in a teacher preparation program, you become part of a supportive, high-achieving community recognized for its passion, potential, and purpose. TTC is designed to walk with you through all four years at LSU—academically, professionally, and personally—so you graduate confident, prepared, and career-ready.
All LSU teacher education students are invited to participate, from freshman year through senior year. You do not need to be a student in the School of Education to join. If you are preparing to teach, TTC is the perfect choice for you.
About the Program
The Tiger Teacher Corps provides a cohesive set of experiences that help you develop into a strong, reflective, and effective educator. Through cohort-based learning, you’ll build lasting relationships with peers who share your goals, while gaining access to resources and opportunities that distinguish LSU.
As a TTC student, you benefit from:
- Mentorship from experienced education professionals who guide you through your academic and career decisions
- Early and ongoing classroom experiences in local schools, beginning your very first semester
- Stipends and scholarships that reduce financial barriers and support your success
- Optional residential living-learning communities that connect you with other future teachers
- PRAXIS exam preparation and career resources, including résumé and interview support
- Personalized advising from a designated counselor who understands teacher preparation pathways
- A specialized first-year experience course (HSE 1000) that introduces you to the profession, connects you to campus resources, and builds your foundation as an educator
- Paid tutoring and mentoring opportunities that provide real teaching experience while strengthening your résumé
At LSU, teaching isn’t something you wait to do after graduation. Through the Tiger Teacher Corps, you begin developing your skills, confidence, and professional identity from day one—supported every step of the way.
